Following the Sweden game and Mikey O's injury I just thought I'd clear up some thoughts on what Swen should have done in that game and what he should do next!

The main point I want to make is this, when I was watching the game on ITV yesterday and Swen replaced Rooney with Gerrard after 69 mins the commontators were all talking about this being Englands shape and formation for the rest of the tournament.

Why? 4-5-1 is not the right formation for us. Whoever thinks it is obviously knows nothing about football. I really hope Swen knows something about football by playing a 4-4-2 formation against Equador.

Lets check some statistics now...

With a 4-4-2 formation England have scored 13 goals in the last 5 games and conceded just 2, a goals difference of +11. In 3 of those 5 games the 4-4-2 formation was only played for about 45 mins on average.

With a 4-5-1 formation England have scored 1 goal and conceded 1, a goal difference of 0. The 4-5-1 formation was played for 45 mins in 3 of those games on average which equals 1 and a half games. Now scoring 1 goal in 1 and a half games against opposition as great as Hungary, Paraguay and Sweden is not gonna win us the world cup is it.

This is why Swen must stick with his tried and tested and successful 4-4-2 formation in the matches to come, with Rooney and Crouch upfront. This way we are playing our best players in a system where we know we can score goals.

It would be unfair to even consider dropping Crouch because he has been one of our best players so far in this tournament and in the warm up games preceding it.

We also best Argentina playing 4-4-2. And they are meant to be the favourites. I can't see us loosing to them to be honest if we play this system.

What I didn't like was Swen not using Walcott in the Sweden game. He is a wildcard and he needs to play sometime in the tournament. I agreed with Swen to take him but I would like to see him play. Maybe put him on for Rooney after 70 mins of the Equador game.

If Swen reads this blog and follows my advice then there is no way that we are not gonna piss on this tinpot world cup!

I'm at home working at the swimming pool and on my exam which is on the 29th of June. I'm gonna be in the Keele area then and I guess I'll see people around then.

The new MUSE album comes out of July 3rd (same day as Darkplace and Nicks birthday and Nicks birthday) and I;ve already fallen in love with one of the 2 songs from it. Seriously I think it's the best MUSE song and one of the best songs ever. I think it may fall into my top 10 all time favourite songs it is that good.

I went to Malta last week. It was really good.

Most of my time was spent sunbathing, getting drunk or going on trips.

The weather is good in Malta. It's also good in Keele at the moment.

We played 4 concerts. They were all really good.

I have lots of things to tell you. But I can't think of what they are. SO I'm just going to keep typing until some inspiration comes out of my stupid head!

Meanwhile, Barnet stayed up quite easily in the end by playing really good football and beating already relegated Rushden 2-1 away. Atmosphere was amazing so yay to that!

Since then I've just been not doing anything really. Waiting for this postponed exam to happen and it's becoming less and less likely that it will. It may even happen when we are in Malta for the band tour. It would be wierd taking an exam in Malta but it could happen. Elmo (the conductor) can invidulate so it's all cool, or hot seeing as it's Malta!

Last Tuesday we went to Rhyl in Wales for a Keele holiday. It was really good and we all had a great time. Albie won the prize for loosing the most money in the arcades and I won the prize for having the stupidest sunburn. Basically all we did was get there, eat, beach, go out, sleep, beach again and go home. I scored some spectacular goals in headers and volleys on the beach and it was great fun. Beans shorts got ripped as well which was funny!

A couple of things we learned from this trip...

1. The Welsh for "Lift" is "Lifft".
2. The Welsh for "Platform" is "Platfform".
3. It is possible for the wheather not to exist!
4. According to the locals, you are the coolest person alive if you have "U Wot" on the back of your shirt!
5. My unbeaten Keele chess record has come to an end after Sam beat me!
6. Stones on the beach are annoying if your playing football!
7. If you go to a Karaoke bar in Rhyl you'll be amazed at the fact that the people there can actually sing!

I've been missing orch to watch football lately and both games have been very disappointing. So I'm not gonna talk about them. However, I will talk about the FA cup final because that was one of the best games I've seen all season. I really hope Gerrard can play like that in the world cup!

The F1 season is looking quite good. The Spanish GP last weekend was the first boring race of the season and the championship battle is interesting. My team of fantasy is doing quite well too!

Adam's birthday was a good laugh, we went to the woods, got wet (coz it was raining) and then went to the union!

I had so many other things to say but I can't remember them right now!

Maybe some other time!

Well...

Things are certainly different now than they were last time I updated.

I'm 21. Woo!

And my exam was postponed (I got the word right this time)!

So chaos in the music dept. Rumours going round that our work isn't gonna be marked, we may not ever take the exam etc... It's all quite exciting!

So apart from the fact that we may not walk out of here with proper degrees, life is good really!

I was 21 on Monday and I had a party in the woods on Tuesday!

On Monday I didn't really do much. Handed in my work at 1:05pm with help from Jeremy. After working really hard and having very little sleep I was knackered but still went out to the union for a few pints. I fell asleep at about 6pm and didn't wake up till 12pm the next day!

Tuesday was amazing. Dan arrived and me, him, Jeremy and Bean set up the party and Helen and Pete were there and Rusty for a bit before he went off to watch the football!

Helen was amazing at setting up the fire and once that was lit we just sat around and had a bbq and kept the fire going all night. It was a huge success. I couldn't count the number of people who turned up as they filtered in and out, revision and stuff. There are plans to do another one when everyone has finished so yay to that!

Thanks to everyone who turned up! Jimmy for the Kronenbourg Blanc, Alan for the amazing card and Lin for her card she gave me yesterday!

Thanks especially to Nick, Dan and Steven for travelling huge distances just to be there. It was an amazing night and it went on till 5am and we kept the fire going for 11 hours. Pretty good!!!

Haven't done much else this week except go out and try to find out how to work my new camera which I got for my birthday from my parents!

Football - Barnet v Stockport County - One of the biggest games for ages. If we win we stay up. I have a horrible feeling about it though! I think we may loose! Well done to Boro yesterday. How good is that. They didn't do it once but twice!!! wow!

Music - New bands I like now are Ayreon and Carptree. Both are amazing bands!

I also really like that Gnarles Berkley song "Crazy". Not because of its name I just think its a fantastic song!!! Did anyone see their performance on Top Of The Pops a couple of weeks ago. It was absolutely amazing. Probably the best TOTP performance I've ever seen. Its on youtube if you missed it! They're on Jools Holland soon and I'm sooooo gonna watch that. May get the album too I heard it on their myspace and it was really good!!!

Hi I'm at home!

Nothings happening. Been places and worked. One of the new people at work is younger than my brother but seems older than even me. Wierd. I beat Joe at foot tag in the swimming pool today.

1 observation, new issue of Q magazine came out and in it they listed the top 50 worst albums ever.

Of those 50 albums I own 2 of them, 1 of which I agree should be on the list.

At number 44 is Standing on the Shoulder Of Giants by Oasis. Really bad album!! Only a couple of passable songs!

However, at number 50 is Beck's album Midnite Vultures. What the hell is that all about??? Not only is Beck amazing but it's his 2nd best album after Mutations. I can think of about 4768953072 albums that deserve to be on that list more than Midnite Vultures. Boo.

Duran Duran topped the list with Thank You. I haven't heard the album so I can't comment.

Dan and Tom came round tonight and we played Super Monkey Ball and Tom actually found a console game he is better than me or Dan at. In the football mini game he beat Dan 7-6 and me 13-5. Wowow!

Back to work tomorrow so I should go to bed!

I'm really busy working at the moment and not being able to do much other stuff. My recital was on Tuesday and it went ok. The 1st piece was the one I mucked up on because I was too nervous but the other 2 seemed to go well.

I have loads of work to do before I go home on Sunday. I'm gonna probably go to the Boston game on Saturday and thats about it. No more going out for me.

I've finished music now which is nice. All i've got left to do is some more creative project and then that wonderful music tech exam at 9:30am on April 25th.

Wierd thing... I got very very drunk on Tuesday and woke up on Wednesday morning at 8:45am to play 1st trumpet in Stu's composition which is high and quite hard, and I felt absolutely fine! Last night I got mildly drunk but not properly at all and woke up this morning and felt hungover. Explain that one!!!!!!

Finally... after waiting for about 600 years the kind people at 'DVD making company ltd' have decided to officially release Garth Marenghi's Darkplace on DVD which is great news for everyone with a sence of humour.

The release date is the 3rd of July, which just happens to be Nick B and Nick D's birthdays. It looks like I'm going to be looking forward to their birthdays just as much as them. I'm not looking forward to my birthday despite the fact that Family Guy season 4 comes out on DVD.

Now all I need to do is look for someone who has a birthday this coming Monday to coinside with the release of Red Dwarf series 8 on DVD which is the other one I want to get.

Searches internet........

The only person I've heard of on that birthdays website that has a birthday on Monday is Mariah Carey and I don't like her so boo. Can anyone else think of anyone better?

However, something very funny I just found. Today (24th March) is the birthday of someone called Heavy D. Hehe I laughed out loud when I saw that!!!

I went to the studio just now to do some work when Reaktor decided to be gay. How rubbish is that???

Oh well, probably won't be any updates over the weekend coz I'm really busy. Got to do work and play in 2 concerts and watch the 1 acts and go to the orange playlist thingy and get Red Dwarf 8 on DVD and watch Red Dwarf 8 on DVD and get some new shoes because my current right shoe has a hole in it and go food shopping and prepare for my recital on Tuesday and play in my recital on Tuesday and go to the football after my recital on Tuesday.

Birthday prosponed!

Guess what I'm going to be doing on my birthday??? If you guessed 'having a good time' you would be wrong. If you guessed getting drunk you would be wronger.

The extreamely nice people at keele have decided to be really kind and put my final exam on the date of April 25th at 9:30 in the morning. This means I am spending my 21st birthday revising. How rubbish is that?

On the brighter side it does mean that I finish uni on the 25th April so I will be very happy on that day. I have therefore decided to prospone my birthday until the following day and then we can pretend that it's my birthday on the 25th.

Rowan is thinking of coming up on that day for his birthday so we can be joint birthday bitches!

The alphabet!

I can't believe that some people cannot say the alphabet!

Surely seeing as we are all aged between 18 and 23, we should all be able to say the alphabet. As part of my music tech project I've been recording people saying things. One of the things they have had to say is the alphabet. I've had people saying they found it hard to remember. Also I've had people hesitating majorly.

However, not only that but Andy (wax off Andy from A Block) and Jonno both got it wrong. Andy said stuwvxyz, and Jonno said abcdefijk. I had to get Jonno to say gh at the end. It was highly amusing but also quite worrying. Whats even more worrying is that we had to re-record Andy's because of background noise coming from next door and he had to write down the alphabet and even more worrying the numbers from 1 to 20 just so that he remembered them. I'm gonna ridicule him on this weeks Wax Off!

I have loads of work to do at the moment and not much else. I hate having to do work. The grand prix was good this weekend and Barnet got a 2-2 draw away at Peterborough so things are ok. However, both Torquay and Rushden won their games so it's even tighter down our end of the table!

Hello again. I was off the internet for a bit but I'm back on again now. Not much has been going on recently so here is a summary.

Done work.
Went out.
Bought 2 Riverside albums.

Wednesday last week was much better than the week before and Dj Rich played Blackest Eyes which was brilliant. Today the song is going to be The Creater Had A Mastertape. I hope Nick and Tom are happy with that and that Tom makes it back from the land of Blackpool in time.

Also went out Sunday and sang Rat Trap and The Drugs Don't Work at karaoke both of which I've sung before. Stu did a fantastic version of My Way by the Sex Pistols (which is so much better than the Sinatra version).

I'm doing loads of work in the studio at the moment. It's good fun and if anyone wants to hear the results on my birthday (which just happens to be the deadline) then just let me know I'll have the tracks on CD. After the deadline I'm gonna work on some fun stuff because I'll have nothing to do and will mean that I'm not spending any money which is a good thing.

I'm seriously worried about Barnet now. We are now only 2 points off the relegation zone and got thrashed 3-0 by Grimsby on Saturday. We have no hope of winning at Peterborough next weekend. England are even worse. I can't believe how badly we played against France and the less said about it the better.

The best thing at the weekend was definately the return of the F1 season in Bahrain. It was an amazing qualifying session and a really good race. Jenson did quite well to get 4th and his moves on Montoya were great to watch. Me, Nick and Jimmy watched it in the union because Tom was at home fixing his computer. We were the only ones in there (apart from Pambi and some girl who were working at the bar) from 11:00 till 12:30. It was wierd being in an empty union without being asked to drink up. At 12:30, about 100000000 Man United fans invaded the place in order to watch their game against Newcastle. The first 20 mins were good but the rest of it was rubbish and we were just playing pool.

Rusty got to the final of the pool tourney on Tuesday and we played drinking games and I Never. Del has a friend up at the moment called Martha who looks a lot like Pippa L. It was wierd, I kept getting visions of being at home again!

Music ---------- I got both Riverside albums a couple of days ago. They are really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really amazing!

Riverside are a Polish modern prog/metal band who everyone should listen to. Influences given of one of the albums are Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Anathema and Pink Floyd. All of these bands just happen to be amazing which means that without even listening to any song by Riverside you can automatically assume that they are amazing!

In other news I have little money and much work to do. I saw Pigmeelion tonight. The drama soc did it and it was really good. Much better than having to study it for GCSE English. That was sooooo boring. I think plays are very boring unless you actually have something to see. Not like proper books.

Oh and if anyone didn't get todays Guardian there is a really funny cartoon on the state of Formula 1 and Super Aguri. I'm not gonna talk about Barnet on this post because otherwise I'll just get sad. I'm just looking forward to the start of the F1 season next weekend.

So on Tuesday I made the long journey down to old London town for the Orient v Barnet match. Despite a very very good performance from us we just couldn't score (we were missing Grazioli). As I hadn't been to a match since December thanks to a bad fixture list this was my first opportunity to see our new signings Hessentaler, Fuller and Kandol. I gotta say that apart from Anthony Charles (afro man) in defence those 3 looked out 3 best players.

We had all the chances but unfortunately the match ended 0-0. Still a good point for us considering they are 5th and we are 5th from bottom. If only Hess was 4 inches taller than he actually is because in the 90th min he had a free header that he just unfortunately couldn't reach.

Came back on Weds for the union. Watch most of the England game while having a text conversation with Dan about Reguero (one of the Uraguay players) needing to remix Becks Guero album. One of the funniest things I've ever seen in football came in the 60ish minute when Peter Crouch and Sean Wright Phillips came on at the same time. The camera had to struggle to get them both in shot with Crouch being 2967 foot tall and SWP being 0.4 inches tall. It was so funny seeing them standing next to each other.

Another thing I didn't know at the time was that Motty gave Barnet a mention. I didn't know this at the time because there was no commentary at the union. I think the context seemed to be along the lines of "Ashley Cole, blah, blah, comeback game, blah, Arsenal v Tottenham which was played at Barnet"!

However, I can't help feeling that there was a lot of missed opportunities where he could have mentioned us a lot more!!!

"There are five Tottenham players on the pitch now..... which is just ten miles down the road from Barnet."

The rest of Wednesday night was good. However, the rubbish election results really put a downer on the night. I was conviced that Dave and Rusty would win (and I wanted Becky to win but I knew Rob would win that catagory)!! They seem to be ok about it though, which is nice. However, I didn't know how cool the Dandy Warhols were!!!

On Thursday I played in the big band for the Caberet put on by the Dance Soc. They were really good and the night seemed to go really well!!! Danielle seemed to do a great job. The only 2 people I knew in the crowd were Moshe and Jaz and they seemed to enjoy it. The best thing about the night be far though were definately http://www.verticalreality.co.uk/ Vertical Reality!!! They were amazing. I caught a red light in my mouth and spat it back at one of the guys. That was cool!!!!!!!

Hello, I haven't updated in a bit so I thought I would do one.

On Wednesday we went out to the union and it was really good. I didn't drink much though because I needed to save myself and my money for thursday.

On thursday we went to Revs for Jamie and Alison's 21st birthday. It was really good and I had more to drink. It was alternative night which was great and there were so many great people there. DJ Rich (from Wednesday nights) was there. We talked a lot about music in general (Beck included) and he said that if I wanted to bring in something for him to play in the first hour then he would play it. I'm happy about that. I think a bit of Blackest Eyes is coming up soon. And the Creator Has a Mastertape!!! Prog Rock at an Indie night is the way forward! Other cool people from music like Jacob and Harry were there too and it was cool. We watched Hot Shots Part Der at Jamie's after but I don't think anyone was taking much notice of it.

Friday I had a well deserved night off, before going to the union Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday both Barnet and England lost which was bad. I am disappointed.

On Sunday we had the radio show. It went quite well. Everyone must listen next week from 4 till 6. Thanks!

Also in the evening I went to see the vagina monalogues by the Keele Drama Society. Lin, Becky, Del and Alison were in it. It was very funny and worth seeing. We then went to karaoke and I sang Flavour of the Week!

Today I have been working a bit and later I'm going down union square to cheer on Hereford as they entertain Stevenage.

Music + Movies!!!

Here's an observation for you!!!

It lists the 100 best movies of all time according to users of some website. I was quite pleased with this list as there are loads of fantastic movies on it. I've seen 43 of the 100 movies, including the top 5 and 8 of the top 10. I was pleased that the Godfather got number one because usually Star Wars gets number 1 and even though Star Wars is really good, the Godfather is better. Anyway, the only film I didn't like in that entire list was 'It's a wonderful Life'. I found it very boring. All the others that I've seen I liked.

This is the same as the other page but brings you to a list of the 100 worst movies of all time. On that list I have only seen 1 out of the 100 movies. In fact, I have only actually heard of about 20 of them. The 1 movie in that list that I have seen is 'Speed 2: Cruise Control'. Yes it is a bad movie but my point is this.

I have seen quite a lot of movies. I could probably count the bad movies I've seen with the fingers of 1 hand (Legally Blonde 2 anyone?). Most of the movies I've seen have been ones that are big, famous and mainstream.

And also if I said to you, "What is your favourite film of all time?", you would probably say something that is in that list of top 100 best movies. I know mine is on there (and it just so happens to be at number 1).

So, while mainstream films are really good, why is mainstream music really bad? There are loads of actors, directors, films etc that do not make it into the mainstream. But that is because the actors, directors, films etc are generally not very good.

Wheras in the music industry, there are loads of small bands and artists who are relitavely unknown (like July for Kings) (you knew I'd say that didn't you) (there are others too, counltess others, I could give you a massive list if you want), who get no recognition whatsoever despite the fact that they are producing really amazing music. Instead we have to listen to musical catastrpohies like Kanye West, James Blunt and 50 Cent.

I could make a movie. Chances are it would be really strange, wierd and mad but I could make one. However, I could never make a movie good enough to get released or into any kind of cinema.

However, I have musical talent and I could probably (no, I mean definately) make better songs than any of the 3 examples listed above. They are all multi millionaires, and I am living on £3000 a year from the government. It sucks but it's true.

In other news I got knocked out of the pool comp straight away by Christ. It's such a shame because I was looking to get far this week because I've been playing well. Also I'm not gonna be in next week because I'm going to the football so 2 weeks time is the next one. However, I'll probably not be as good then. Lame. Tom C has been playing amazing recently and Jimmy did quite well too. Bean didn't do so well and Ollie is back on top of the table.

Rusty and Dave seemed to get through their speaches for the KUSU elections pretty well. Nice one!

Getting really pissed both tonight (Wednesday night in K2) and tomorrow (Jamie's birthday thing at Revs). Not looking forward to Friday morning. Happy Birthday Jamie!

This is the funniest thing I've ever seen in a newspaper. It is further proof that the paper is sooooo bad and no attention should be paid to the News of the World under any circumstances. This match report between Bury and Barnet is unedited. I have put the corrections in brackets for you!

Chris Cusped's (Chris Casper's) struggling Bury earned a vital point a thanks to their second no-score (goalless) draw in five days. The Shakers' stalemate away to Torture (Torquay) on Tuesday held (had/created) few openings, but it was a different matter on a treacherous Gigg Lane surface.

Cusped (Casper) admitted: I thought the surface was very difficult and in fairness the score could have been 3-3 or 4-4. both sides hit the woodwork and both keepers made good saves but, all in all, it is a point gained as we could have lost it near the end.

We could, and should, have made our chances count in the first half when we could have been two or three clear and it would have been game over.

But we didn't lose again. Credit to the lads they've worked their socks off.

We've a big push ahead of us but he team spirit is great and on another day we could have won the game.

The game started brightly and Matthew Tiptoeing (Matthew Tipton) for the Shakwers (Shakers) and the Londoners' Ben Striven (Ben Strevens) were denied by timely tackles when clean through on goal.

Meanwhile, Bury's Gave Flatiron (Dave Flicroft) hit the post only for Drawn Mates (Dwayne Mattis) to fire the rebound high over the bar (the rebound was blocked by a defender it did not go over the bar).

After that lively opening the game faded away with neither relegation-threatened team able to carve out chances.

The second half was abnother story with Bury's Cake Spigot (Jake Speight), and Tremor Kindly (Tresor Kandol) and Gaoling Grizzly (Guliano Grazioli) for the Bees, all having goals ruled out for offside.

Kindly's (Kandol's) header hit the woodwork.

Bury goalkeeper Crag Godson (Craig Dootson) had a fine game but his afternoon ended in misery when he was substituted five minutes from time with a suspected broken arm.His misfortune allowed rookie stopper Baron Ground (Aaron Grundy) his first taste of league football.'

Helloooooo!

I went to see Biffy Clyro last night and they were amazing. They played some new songs and most were really good some were a bit boring though but mainly good. They also played my 2 favourite songs from the latest album, Wave Upon Wave Upon Wave Upon Wave and The kids from kibble and the fist of light. Both amazing songs. And I can play the trumpet bit from The kids from kibble and the fist of light which is nice! If you are reading this Biffy and you ever want a trumpet player i'm more than happy to play for you!

They were supported from some other Scottish band (can't remember their name) who sounded like they'd been listening to a bit too much Biffy. Their songs were good but not amazing. One of their songs was about Alex Kidd!!! On the Master System. I still have that game. Haven't played it in years though. Next time I'm home I'm gonna complete it again.

They were also supported by Oceansize (of "One Day All This Could Be Wales" fame). They were absolutely incredible and to all you home people I'm gonna be poisoning you lot with Oceansize when I get back. They were fantastic!!! Yay to them!

Meanwhile Nick D (who also went to the gig) was getting more and more ill as the night went on. Consequently he was not able to go on the radio (due to him not being able to talk, which is not very useful if you want to go on the radio). However, despite that setback the first "Tropy Cabinet" show went pretty well. I was happy with how it went. Thanks to everyone who listened, especially Nick A, Nick B and Mark B. We really appreciated your contributions. We sure to listen next week on www.kuberadio.com from 4-6pm on Sunday. I'll give you loads of reminder texts and stuff.

On Friday Jacob was celebrating his bday in the union. That was a good night. I hope you enjoyed it Jake. Come out next Weds and Rich will play Cigarettes and Alcohol for you!

Tonight I sang Country House in karaoke and also sang Barbie Girl with Lin. I know the song sucks but it was quite fun to sing even though the screen kept playing up (i'm good at excuses). Next week we are going to blow everyones minds!!!!!!!!

I'm also playing quite well in pool at the moment! After the Biffy gig me Bean and Jen went to the union to play some pool. It seems that sometime during the gig Bean and Jen decided to swap bodies for the evening because Bean was not very good and Jen was amazing!!!! She beat me about 3258 times and beat Bean for the first time ever (according to her). It was a good night anyway! I generally loose against Dave Twallin but I beat him today by 3 balls! yay!

In other news I listened to signal 1 again the other day and they played some good songs (White Stripes and Queen and David Bowie). I think it was the "good song hour". I think I'm gonna drop the lawsuit.

I also went out on Weds and it wasn't as good as usual Wednesdays are because the music wasn't as good. I think it was just a blip. I'm thinking about a bit of Blackest Eyes next week. Or maybe in 2 weeks time. Who knows!

Things are bad in football again. We surrendered a 2-0 lead and conceded 3 horrible goals in the last 20 mins and lost 3-2 at home to Lincoln. I've seen the goals and they are horrible. Our goals are really good though! Next weeks game at Bury is massive. I would go but I'm seeing BIFFY CLYRO at the Sugarmill. Yay!!!!!!

However, last time a chose to go to a gig instead of the football was at the end of last season when we needed to beat Northwich away to win the Conference. However, I was going to see Porcupine Tree with Nick in London so couldn't go. It's the only time I've ever wanted Barnet to loose a game (I wanted to be there when we won the league). Thankfully we did loose 2-0 and the gig was amazing. We then won the league the following week at home to Halifax. If we loose on Saturday though I will not be so happy because we are now only 3 points off the relegation zone. It's getting scary.

Oh yeah I'm seeing the Foos in Hyde park in June! yay!!!!!!!!!!

He saved my life once. I saved his twice so I was one up!

My radio show with Nick and Dan is on Sundays from 4 till 6. Everyone must listen otherwise I'll throw a wet sponge at you. Think of how much that will make you wet. Now you are obliged to listen.

Isn't it funny that my radio show is being presented by Nick Dan and Tom (ie. me) and the JBob people are also called Nick Dan and Tom (not including me). Wierd!

Anyway one of their jingles was, "We don't play anything you won't know, only the best variety of hits".

They followed this jingle with a rubbish sounding rap style track that I didn't know.

So I'm just going to randmly write crap for a bit and see what comes out of my head. Because I think that'll be more interesting than me not updating this thing.

Did boring things for a few days and then went out to open Mike night with Jeremy, Jonno, Bill Jacob, Lucy and other such Hoewood M-Block people and it was really nice. Andy and Tom and loads of other people went to Drum and Bass night thing in K2 which I would not have found as fun. I didn't play but I might do sometime if I have something to play. I won lots of games of pool. I think I'm better than I was last semester because I'm thinking about my shots more. Oh I also watched England smash aside Wales in the Rugby. yay!

On Sunday we went to the IPod party after concert band which was a bit lame and stupid and there was much less people there than there would be if they did Karaoke every week but hey it was still a good night because a lot of other people that are cool were out. It does double up as Karaoke and I sang Is This The Way To Amerillo. 2 of my friends from concert band did the dance while I was singing which was great. I thought they weren't going to do it. yay!

Today I played football with Andy, Rusty, Nick and loads of the FC Boyos. I took it a bit easy and didn't play particularly well but did set up a couple of the goals which was nice. Also during my stint in goal I saved one of Rustys shots with my little finger. WARNING!!! NEVER SAVE ONE OF RUSTYS SHOTS WITH YOUR LITTLE FINGER, IT HURTS A LOT!!! It's ok now though. Me and Nick then watched Sheff Utd v Watford in union square and Watford won 4-1. yay! There was about 8 other people watching it and they were all Watford fans so when they scored there was a massive cheer but when United scored there was silence. It was great!

Thats it then. I'm having a night in now and I'm gonna probably go shopping tomorrow because I've run out of food. And drink. And other things I need. Yes.

Things are very very bad at Barnet so I've been quite sad recently. I won't bore you with the details but its basically about the local Conservative council being really really gay and stopping us doing essencial safety work on part of our ground meaning that we have had to close the East Terrace, which is one of my many homes and where all the atmosphere comes from. This means that there will be a reduced atmosphere and attendances until we can sort this all out. It's lame. Barnet council seem to have this stupid rubbish vendetta against us just because they want our land. Booooooo. We did win at home to Shrewsbury at the weekend though. Yay!

This post is really boring I can sence it. Oh well.

Awesome!

Got there at 10 after watching Arsenal loose to West Ham (hehehe) and requested Shallow and the dj played it and then Elastica and then Head Automatica. The rest of the night went in a blur. I don't think I left k2 all night. Apart from to use the toilet of course. Oh and Guero by Beck was the last song which was awesome. I never even knew he had any Beck. However, I made the mistake of drinking Bud and not Becks at that time.

I haven't updated about Nottingham at the weekend. It was great. Dan was very pleased to see everyone and there was lots of funny moments and lots of me being stupid moments. I won at poker though which was nice. I won the opportunity to buy everyone a round when we went to some old pub the next day. I think Dan likes his toneport a bit!!!

After the greatness of Tuesday night I only have 17 days until my next gig. Biffy Clyro at the Sugarmill. Seen them before but have to see them again coz they are fantastic! I'm going with Bean, Jen and Nicky D. I think that those are the only people going. Maybe.

Music. Great isn't it.

However, does anyone get the feeling that they are waisting time when they are listening to it? I've just been thinking about that and its wierd. My music taste is great but quite strange. Most of the songs I like are really really long. This is not helped by the fact that I love Progressive Rock. Also my entire collection of Jazz and Classical music is stupidly long song based. I don't like vocal Jazz or Classical music. I love solo instrumental Jazz and Classical I love (mainly romantic or modern) Symphonies. Last week Dave Leech made me a CD with loads of tunes that he really likes on it in order to let me into what goes on inside his head. It's an amazing CD by the way Dave if you are reading!!! I am in the planning stages of my CD to Dave. However, he managed to fit 26 tracks onto 1 CD. I think I'd struggle to fit 10 onto 1 CD (so I'm going to make it a double CD). Anyway my point is this.

I am one of those people that likes listening to my music in detail. Yeah I enjoy having it on in the background too (I'm listening to the Absolution album by Muse right now). However, I do like to sit down and actually take in details in songs. However, when I do that it feels like I'm wasting time because I would be doing nothing productive alongside my listening. However, I like to do that. My problem is that time does not stand still while I'm listening and I seem to waste a lot of time just sitting around listening to music when I could be doing something useful (like updating my blog). I love long train/car journeys because there is nothing I can do anyway. However, I wish that I was able to stop time and devote that to the listening of some fantastic music. And thats what really grinds my gears today. Back to you Tom.

I can't listen to a 12 minute Porcupine Tree song while getting changed because it takes me 2 minutes to get changed and then I'd have 10 minutes to do nothing. This is why I love bands like July For Kings, American Hi Fi, Oasis etc so that I have some music to listen to while I get changed and stuff. In the case of bands like Bowling for Soup I don't really have to concentrate on the music anyway because its simple. But its so effective.

I went to a gig last night.

Whoa!

Lets stop here and explain something. I have never been able to decide what the best live gig I've ever been to is. It was between Beck and Porcupine Tree and I've had real trouble deciding which one gets top spot (and I still don't know). Now my quest to find the best ever gig has taken a real turn for the worse. Last nights gig was so incredibaly fantastically fucking awesome that my joint number 1 gig now has 3 different but equally as good leaders. Please welcome Butch Walker.

Let me just say that probably the reason that I can't decide between these 3 is that they were all so different.

Porcupine Tree - Modern Progressive/Phycedelic/Space Rock.
Beck - Wierd electronic rockpoprock mix type improvise thing with visuals and a robot dancer.
Butch Walker - Acoustic melodic alternative rockpoprock.

He does usually have a band with him but about a quarter of the way through the gig he said this (I quote), "My country is run by a real fucking asshole and the economy is so fucked up. So I couldn't afford to bring my band over here so its just me". He's American by the way. Tony Blair may not be the best PM we've ever had but he's not an asshole.

Butch is quite big in America, not massive but nicely big. 3 of his songs got to number 1 on the alternativeaddiction.com singles chart and his song mixtape won "best song of 2004" on that site. Also his Letters album came second in "best album of 2004". Incedentally July for Kings song Blue Eyes came 10th in "Best song of 2005" which is pretty good for a smallish unsigned band. Also JFK's ep Nostalgia came 12th in "best album of 2005" which is pretty good for an ep.

Anyway despite Butch being big in America he hasn't released anything over here so not many people have heard of him. So this gig was played in a place called Barfly in Camden which is very small. I rekon there was about 150 people there at the most. The atmosphere was really good though and he was talking to us as if he knew us. Even though he'd never been to the UK before. Did I mention that this was his first ever UK performance?

Anyway the opening act was this girl called Eileen Rose who was quite good. She's from Boston and pointed out that the Celtics have never won a championship since the titanic sank. Wow, Barnet have won more than that.

Then he came on and was drinking wine from a bottle. All the songs he played were great and it had everything. Improv was fantastic he was funny and the croud was brilliant. There were 2 funny girls who had come from America just to see the gig. He even played the piano with his feet while holding and playing the guitar and singing at the same time. At the end he went off the stage did a couple of encoures and then decided to run through the crowd and sat himself by the bar and play another song which was fantastic. He then did some cool improv stuff with us and then came through the crowd into the middle while still playing the song and suddenly I was right next to him (Nick A and Susan who I was there with had gone at this point to catch their train back to Bristol so they missed it). It was so cool. I was about this far away from him.

Anyway he then sat down so we all sat down with him and his improv stuff slowly faded out until he fell asleep on some guys lap. The gig ended with him going goodnight.

I cannot describe every single amazing detail about it because then my post will be as big as my sports predictions post.

Hello people!

I'm not going out tonight. I want to stay in and save money. I hope nobody dies of a heart attack after reading that. I probably should have put the title as WARNING:EXTREME CONTENT!!!

I had an exam last Thursday and it was quite good. I was certainly happy with how it went. I had only had about 1.5 hours sleep the previous night and was tired. However, after the exam we drank and played pool. I then fell asleep at 6:30pm and didn't get up again till 8:30am the next day.

I got 7 balled by Andy for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. He did an 8 ball clear up. I nearly did one back at him but missed an easy black which was quite frustrating. I've played so much pool these last few weeks I think I must have put about £50 into the tables in the union. Dangerous! I think I'm getting quite good now. Maybe!

Went out last Friday and this Wednesday. Wednesday was really good. I got very drunk which is funny coz I didn't really drink that much. I think it was the mixing of Carling, Grolsh, cider and Southern Comfort that did it. I had a great time. And I got Mr Rich DJ man to play some Porcupine Tree. yayayay!!

Funny thing today I read (Yoda is so cool). Teddy Sheringhams agent is called Barry Neville. I bet that was confusing when TS was at Man United with Gary, Phil and their dad Neville.

Porcupine Tree's album Deadwing got voted into 2nd place in some really big American magazine. yay! More people like PT than we know. Also a couple of nights ago I had this really wierd dream that I had got an advance copy of the new July for Kings album and as a bonus track they did a cover version of Killing in the Name of by Rage Against the Machine. It sounded quite good in my dream but I can't imagine them doing that in real life. It wouldn't really work!! The strange thing is I never remember my dreams usually but this one was probably the clearest one I've ever had! I could probably sing you one of the tracks right now if you want. Although I'm sure you won't want!

Now that I have nothing to do I will try and update this more often but right now I have nothing more to say apart from monkey.

Bored of revision again!!!

I'm bored of revision again so I thought I'd give you my predictions for what will happen in the world of sport in 2006.

Football:

Chelsea win the premiership by a lot of points. Everyone yawns. However, there is a shock in the FA cup when their 2nd string loose in the semi finals to Charlton with the two Bent brothers scoring in the last 5 minutes to complete a 2-1 turnaround. The press decide its the best game of football they've ever seen but then suddenly remember that football did exist before February 2006.

Charlton end up loosing the FA cup final to Liverpool 4-0 with new goal machine sensation Peter Crouch scoring all 4 goals. Everyone hails Benitez's signing of Crouch as the best transfer ever done by anyone ever. However, he still doesn't get a starting place in the England team for the world cup.

Wigan beat Man United in the final of the carling cup. The press hail Wigan as the most remarkable thing thats ever happened to any club ever!! They then go on to complain about Chelsea and how they have so much money, obviously ignoring the fact that Wigan also have a big money chairman with loads of money. United manager Sir Alex Fergusen is once again trophyless at the end of the season and so makes up his own tournament called the Fergie cup. The Fergie cup is a football tournament played between United, the Manchester Cricket team, the under 14s football team from Sir Alex's old school and Reddich United from the Conference North. Fergusen is delighted as United win the tournment thanks to a deflected Scholes goal at the end of extra time against the Cricket team. He said after the game "It was hard work but the players deserved it. I'm so happy to have won something finally".

Nobody cares about the UEFA cup so lets say AZ win it. Their nickname should be the Alphabets.

In the champions league there is big drama in the Barcelona - Chelsea match after the referee gives Barcelona a free kick inside their own half after a blatent dive by some Argentinian bloke. Even though it did not affect the result at all (Barca won 2-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate by the way) Jose decides to complain about it and talks to the press about the referee. He is given a 4 game touchline ban by UEFA and not much of a big deal is made of it. However, the story is all over the back pages of the papers for the next month despite the fact that other more exciting things are happening in football.

Barca cruise to the final where they meet Arsenal (who ignore their poor league form and knock out better teams such as Real Madrid and Liverpool). The media play the game up and people expect the game to be a fantastic exhibition of free flowing attacking football to rival last years classic final. Barcalona win 1-0 thanks to a last minute penalty converted by Ronaldinho after a blatent dive by some Argentinian bloke. Arscene Wenger didn't see the incident but all 11 Arsenal players on the pitch at the time get sent off after the final whistle for their protests, meaning they each get an automatic 3 match european ban. Ironically, due to their poor league form, they don't get to play in the champions league next season thanks to their poor league finish of 9th. However, even more ironically, they actually qualify for next years UEFA cup after coming top of the fair play table in the premiership.

The final table looks like this:

2. Liverpool
3. Man United
4. Spurs
5. Bolton
6. Blackburn
7. Portsmouth (after spending £100000000000 on new players in the January transfer window they win all their games apart from the game against Chelsea).

Everyone at Spurs is delighted with the fact that they finished above Arsenal and the team goes on an open top bus parade to celebrate this (even though they didn't actually win anything). More people turn up to this than Chelseas championship winning open top bus parade. Spurs boss Martin Jol says "My job here is complete" and subsequently resigns. However, none of the Spurs fans actually realise he's resigned because they are pissed 24 hours a day (thanks to new drinking laws) until the world cup.

Sunderland, Birmingham and West Brom are relegated. Reading, Sheff Utd and the mighty Watford go up.

Barnet finish a respectable 15th in league 2. And good news is on the way as the Lib Dems win the local election (with 99% of the votes) and grant us permission to build a new ground at South Underhill. Please!!!

Stevenage and Hereford miss out on promotion to the league again as Accy Stanley and Exeter make their way up into the football league at the expence of Torquay and Rushden.

On the final day of the premiership season England defenders Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell suffer bad injuries that keep them out of the world cup, so Sven has to rely on the 4th best defender in the country (Barnets Simon King) to partner Terry in defence. Into the tournament and King is as solid as ever as England storm to the top of the group winning all 3 games with ease.

In the second round England beat Poland 5-0. Crouch scoring a hatrick in the last 5 mins after coming on as a sub for Owen. This performance rightly gives him a starting place for the next game. They then beat Germany and Spain really easily to set up a final with Brazil.

Brazil forget that England have Paul Robinson in goal who is actually quite good and their many long range efforts are comfortably dealt with by him. However, in the 70th minute Ronaldinho picks up the ball inside his own half and runs past all 11 England players one by one before scoring into the empty net with his backside. However, goal-machine Peter Crouch gets an equaliser with 10 minutes to go after a neat passing move, he recieves the ball and flicks it over the keeper to score with his head (he can only score with his head). Then in the final minute, who else but Barnet defender Simon King to pop up with the winning goal with a header from a corner. The ref was about to disallow it but then he realised that it wasn't Sol Campbell playing so the goal stood. England fans go crazy!!! We won the world cup etc etc...

Meanwhile, domestically Spurs appoint Everton striker Duncan Fergusen as their new manager. Their chairman has this to say, "We chose Dunc because his surname is Fergusen, just like Uniteds manager and United always finish above their local rivals but never seem to win anything at the moment, which is perfect for us". Elswhere, Tierry Henry decides to stay at Arsenal despite every single club in the world being interested in him. Also Chelsea, obviously unhappy with the 12 league goals they conceded last season in all 38 games win the race to sign England hero Simon King from Barnet for £10 million. They also sign Grazioli's new 2 month old baby from Barnet for another 1 million and state in the paper that the player is the brightest prospect in the world of football today. He is subsequently loaned back to Barnet in an 18 year deal. Unhappy with the rest of the team for loosing 4 games last season and not beating the premiership scoring record last time out, they make another 12 new signings and spend over 150 million on new players over the summer. They become the first club ever to have over 250 players in their squad. Portsmouth continue to spend more money on players Chelsea don't want and they make 10 new signings spending around £75 million. They also decide that Fratton Park is too small so decide to build a new stadium with a 150,000 capacity. However, the only place they can find the space to build such a massive structure is the ocean so they go ahead and will become the first club to play football in the sea when it is complete in 2 years time.

The season starts and is as predictable as ever with Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Liverpool and Portsmouth setting the early pace, despite suprise outfit Sheffield United topping the league on the first day of the season after beating Fulham 4-0. Other promoted teams Watford and Reading sit just above the relegation zone with the usual suspects (Charlton, West Ham, Fulham and Spurs) languishing adrift of the others. Spurs manager Duncan Fergusen is sacked after just 8 and a half games (he was sacked at half time) and blames Spurs' poor performance on the players and not himself. After qualifying for the champions league, Spurs are knocked out at the first hurdle of both that tournament and the UEFA cup (loosing to Total Network Solutions and Werder Bremen) and normal order is restored in North London.

Meanwhile, in league 2, Barnet soar to the top of the table after managing to get loads of really good players thanks to the money recieved from the transfers of King and Grazioli Jr in the summer.

Formula 1:

After a fantastic first round race in Malasia in which Kimi Raikonnen wins, the press predict this season to be the most exciting season ever. They are wrong of course, as Kimi wins every other race in the season. Obviously Maclaren decided to make a car that could last the race distance this year. New team Super Aguri's 4 year old Arrows cars are so slow that Takuma Sato is unable to crash into anyone this season. He does manage to run over a snail though.

Michael Shumacher retires at the end of the season because Massa is faster and better than him and he's not used to being the second best driver in the team. Jenson Button finishes on the podium 3 times and the press hail it as a "fantastic achievement". All the British papers predict that Button will win the championship in 2007.

The main new rule for 2007 will be that the teams have to fuel the cars for the whole season in an attempt to slow them down. Other more subtle changes will be that before the race the tracks have to be layered with ice. This means that cars will have to take lower speeds into corners, again slowing them down. Also, in order to make qualifying more interesting the FIA have decided to split qualifying up into 2 stages. On the Friday, the drivers have to have consumed 6 pints of lager (or the equivalent) before going out and setting their first time. Then on the Saturday, the drivers will have to go round the track backwards.

Will 2007 be as disappionting as 2006? We will have to wait and see.

Other sports which aren't quite as good as football or F1:

In Tennis both Henman and Murray have poor starts to the season with defeat in the first round at the Australian open (how did I know that?) and are overhyped again when they arrive at Wimbledon.

Henman gets a potencial 2nd round tie against Federer and the British public and press are really looking forward to it calling it the match that could save Tim's career. However, he doesn't even play in the match as he looses in the first round 6-4 6-4 6-4 to Abdul Lusanoogosol, a wildcard entry from Equatorial Guinea. After the match he says "I'll be back next year better than ever".

Murray does slightly better, reaching the 4th round before loosing to Roddick after being 2 sets up and leading the third. However, he got cramp in his leg and felt tired and lost the last three sets easily. He said after the match "I'll be back next year better than ever".

I think one of those comments will be right. Can you guess which one I'm thinking of?

In snooker Ronnie O'Sullivan's ego goes to his head in the World Championships when he attempts to pot a ball with his feel whilst standing on his hands. He misses the pocket he is aiming for but it goes in another pocket after coming off 2 cuisions. The headline in the paper the next day reads "LUCKY BUGGER". However, Ronnie claims he played for the other pocket.

In Cricket, England loose lots of games but it's all ok because we won the ashes last year.

In Rugby England come 4th in the 6 nations after defeats to Wales, France and Scotland. However, it's all ok because we are in a period of transition and also we won the world cup 3 years ago.

Finally, last but not least Rubby gets accepted as an olympic sport starting in 2012 and the sports inventors become mega rich celebrities. In fact they become so famous that they actually turn town the chance to go on Celebrity Big Brother!

I'm sure you will all agree that these are really accurate predictions. I've just wasted an hour and will now go back to my revision!

Yo People! - This is an update!

I think I should update seeing as I haven't for 1 whole month. I really shouldn't be updating right now but I've done a bit of revision and I'm so bored of it I hate revision agagaggagaga.sref

Anyway, since the 16th of December I have mostly been working but thats been boring so I'll update you on the fun stuff.

Arrived home to find out that loads of people at home has decided to break up with their other so we are all single again which is wierd but cool but strange and I don't really understand most things but during the summer there was only about 3 of us who were single. How things change. I hope everybody is doing good especially Nick and Pippa who are at the same uni. Not everyone is single, however, (Dave and Evette (I can't spell that name), Pippa K and Richard, Jonathan and (Lindsay?) dunno about PAM but I assume he's got some bloke on the go. Seemed quite happy last time I saw him.

Christmas was usual cool family stuff. I got general DVDs, CDs, Books, Clothes and Pro Evo 5. Joe (my brother) got a guitar (right handed so I'm not really able to play it), it's really cool though and makes funny sounds when you move the knobs. I spose i'll be able to learn a few power chords and play most Bowling for Soup songs along with some Status Quo. Christmas eve was interesting too. Me and Nick went to some friends of our parents who live along the road and they have younger kids and the whole house was full of 15-18 year old getting pissed. Most of the night was spent singing karaoke songs on some PS2 game they had on this massive 5000 inch tv screen. The problem was, only 1 of them could sing (there was about 65497 of them). It was quite funny watching them though.

Returned to work at the swimming pool on the 28th to find out that most of the lifeguards are leaving in Feb so that was probably the last time I saw most of those people. Sad.

New Years eve was great fun. We had a Mexican themed evening with Tequila and Sol and lots of cool stuff at Nick A's house. Katy brought a Mexican CD and a ukelele with her. The CD had a fantastic song on it called La Bikina. I got very drunk and lost track of what happened after about 1am (at least I remembered new year, and I somehow wasn't sick). I must thank Nick B for looking after me so nicely. Thanks Nick. Thick.

Had a few cool poker nights (one including a very funny moment involving a gritting truck and Emilys car) and then came back to Keele where more work has been done mostly.

Been out for a few nights though and despite the closure of K2 on Weds for there not being enough people there (exams apparantly) it was a really good night. We had a fantastic game of Quickfire 5-second killer drinking pool which someone made up where you get as many players as you want and when its your go you have to take less than 5 secs to take a shot and if you miss you have to drink but you can go for any ball you want. It was really good and we have to have more games. Friday was good but somehow I didn't enjoy it as much as Weds despite the fact that more people were there.

Things are not going so well with football at the moment due to the numerous injuries we have. However, I'm confident things should pick up soon once our players all come back. We failed to sign Elding. The greedy bastard went to big money Kettering Town instead. Twat. Loved the Luton - Liverpool 3-5 game though. Best game I've seen for absolutely ages. The first ever football match I saw was Barnet 4-7 Crewe and I think the Luton Liverpool game is very close to that one as far as entertainment value for the neutral goes.

I got the Look Around You series 2 DVD today and its really funny (i'd seen all the episodes before). Some of the bonus features are really funny too. Theres a really cool test card video with Dr Fu and Medibot and a really funny extended documentry on birds from the final episode.

July for Kings new album is nearly complete I can't wait. It should be out in the summer. Been looking forward to this for ages!!

In other news I went to the xmas party on Wednesday and it was really great. I had an amazing time. The only band I actually saw were called Huge. They were called Huge either because there was a lot of them in the band (9), or that the lead singer looked a bit like the fat one out of Bowling for Soup. They were really good by the way. Played loads of cheesy covers.

I missed Rachael Stevens, who apparantly played 4 songs and they were all crap and then she buggered off. I'm quite glad I missed her really because nobody that saw her said she was any good. K2 was brilliant. DJ Rich played Deadwing for us which is nice. He is really great.

KAOS was last night and that was good fun. Didn't know that many people there but all the people I did know were amazing and I met some other really cool people as well which was nice, and Jen was working behind the bar. Dave did a short DJing set, which was cool, even though I only knew about 1 of the songs.

Also they had a santas grotto type thing which was for charity. It was not actually Santa though, it was Carrie. I'm not looking forward to seeing the photo. I probably look stupid. One of the presents was a cool mouth organ type thing so I participated. However, all I got were colouring pencils. So I gave them to Tom because he does Geography.

A few days ago Nicky D introduced me to Garth Meranghi's Darkplace. This is one of the funniest things i've ever seen and will be getting the DVD when it comes out next year. Thanks Nick. Thick.

Anyone heard about the Hemel explosion. Shame I'm up in Keele and wasn't there to hear it. Although I'd have probably slept through it knowing me!!!

Wednesday was the Porcupine Tree gig which was amazingly incredible. They played a few obscure songs as well as classic ones. The best was probably Hatesong, that is so good live. They opened with Open Car and Blackest Eyes, which are Dans 2 favourite songs. They finished with Trains. They played it differently to when they played it last time. Anyway it was really great and Robert Fripp the support act wasn't bad either. He just had his guitar and lots of equipment and just sat on a stool and played this really laid back, mellow music for 40 minutes. It was the kind of music that you had to be sitting down to enjoy more and you need more than 4 hours sleep the previous night. It was still really good anyway. After the gig this Sinatra style jazz music came on and to my amazement it was a jazz version of Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was really cool. I want it.

Thursday I did an amusing presentation with Lional. It was on Ravels Sonata for Violin and Cello. The less said about this the better.

Friday I played the Aroutunian trumpet concerto in the Orchestra concert. I was really scared before but it went really well and I'm pleased it's over. Thanks to everyone who came and supported me it was very nice of you all. It seems like you all enjoyed it. yay!

Saturday I watched football and went to a party. That was nice too. It's good to have days off sometimes.

Got a big band gig tonight, last one of the year. Got so much work to do next week its unbelievable.

Barnet are at Macc town on Saturday so I'm off on Sunday. I really hope we win this game. We should be doing a lot better than we are at the moment.

But I thought I'd update this instead. My phone should work again today. I've been having problems with it after I left my charger in Stockport last weekend and forgot about it till thursday when I needed to charge it and realised that I didn't have my charger. It should have arrived today which is good!

I have to write programme notes for the concert on Friday and also write out my presentation on Ravels Sonata for Voilin and Cello, which is on Thursday. However, seeing as i'm going to London to see Porcupine Tree play live tomorrow, i'm gonna have to do both of them today. This is why I shouldn't be updating this right now.

Talking of Porcupine Tree, the Deadwing album has been nominated in 3 catagories at the surround awards event on the 15th of December. Becks Guero album has been nominated in 4 catagories at the same awards event so there may be a bit of local rivalry between 2 artists I really like as they are together in 2 of the catagories.

Last night was the performing arts ball which big band played in. It was tiring but I think we played well enough, considering we were missing Nic and Amy on Alto. Anthony should not be playing 1st trombone because Sam is a better Jazz musician than him. Boo...

It was good to play in a ball where I actually knew a lot of the people in the audience. They were a great audience always dancing and sounded like they had a laugh. Sorry we couldn't play everyones requests. I'd love to play the lion sleeps tonight sometime though.

If you go to www.barnetfc.com there is an article about 3 down from the top explaining the money we recieved from our Carling Cup tie against Man United. Around £100,000 is gonna be available for transfers, which is really exciting. By the way £100,000 is a hell of a lot of money for a club our size. Everyone is really excited because we may be able to climb up the table towards the end of the season.

The rest of the money is going towards ground issues and balancing the books.

However, what is funny is that lower down the page there is a poll. It is usually quite boring. Questions range from "Who do you think should play in goal? Tynan or Flitney" to "Who was man of the match against llangaogjijdiojwijdijapafissjapojagogogogo united?"

However, this weeks question is really funny.

I thought it was about time I did a real update. It's snowing really heavily right now. I would go out and play but I'm too hungover right now. I will do so later. Work is getting done slowly but I'm gonna do loads this week. Hopefully.

Karaoke was fun last night. I sang Good Enough by Dodgy and Hannah got through to the final. Barnet lost 2-1 to Bristlol Dovers on Saturday. Bad news. Apparantly we hit the bar twice in a minuite at the end. We should have won. Oh well.

Funny headline of the week = I SHOT CRAZE. It's up on my door. Will explain why it is funny to people at home when I can be bothered. Well done Nick for finding it.

I dunno where I found this but it's really good. It would be cool if others did this on their blogs too just for fun.

Well. I said I'd spend most of today in the studio. I actually spent 0 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds, 0 milliseconds in the studio.

Last night a long but worthwhile discussion in Z4 led to me going to bed at 6:15 and ending up going to sleep around 7am. After getting up at 12:20 to go to the music dept for part 1 of my trumpet lesson I was feeling very tired. I then had my trumpet lesson, cought the end of Rusty and Raven's excellent radio show (by the way, what was that Wales song that won raid the fridge? That was a tune!!!) had a shower and went off to Derby for Elmo's Derby gig that I was playing in. Sam gave me, Toby and Marie a lift and we got lost. Sam thought it was Marie's fault but she's convinced it was the AA's fault for giving her dodgy directions.

So we missed the rehearsal and arrived 15 mins before the start of the gig. It went very well considering we were sight reading and I had already played for an hour and a half that day.

Went home in a funny route and had a chinese. Very busy day but no work done.

I'm going to spend most of Saturday watching football. No work done!!!

In slightly more interesting news I bought a box of tissues from Lindsay bar and they are the best tissues ever. I don't even have a cold but I still have got through loads. They don't even have a label. Quality!!!

I currently own 43 elastic bands. Anyone got any ideas what I can do with them?

I would not have been able to get up this morning for my 9am lecture had it not been reading week. Instead I slept through my hangover. Hooray for reading week. Last night was good but it could have been better. I did prefer outlaw.

I've started budgeting and it seems to be going rather well.

This weekend is going to be spent watching football. Saturday Grays v Accrington Stanley is on Sky Sports followed by the England game on the bbc. Sunday we make the short trip to Stockport to watch the mighty bees. The game is on sky but it's much better actually being there.

Planning on spending most of friday in the studio.

Power was down but is now up. Unfortunately kuberadio.com is still down and Adam and Andy are meant to be doing a radio show right now, which I appear in loads and talk crap while playing some Porcupine Tree or Beck or something. However, there is nobody to listen to it because the site doesn't work. So it's my job to check the site and alert them when it starts working.

I'm listening to Becks Mutations album. I didn't know how amazing it was. Been listening to it all week and I rekon it's Becks best albumen. Diamond Bollocks is a genious song.

I've also been spending too much money recently, so I've started some serious budgeting. However, it didn't start well because on the first day of budgeting I went into Newcastle and bought the Red Dwarf series 7 DVD. It's very very good!

I have nothing to say. Had a pretty normal week and weekend. I'm liking the clock change though makes it much easier to get up.

I played pool on saturday and played well. In fact I broke, potted and cleared up without Nick taking a single shot in 1 game. That was nice. It wasn't a 7 balling though because I potted one of his balls off the break as well.

Barnet beat Rushden 2-1 on Saturday. yay!

I watched Finding Neverland yesterday and it's really good!

I posted this on saturday but it didn't publish the blog for some reason so I thought I'd post it now!

Its wierd but I've never felt like this before. For the first time in my entire life I am actually enjoying doing academic work. I find it hard to understand why but it's just like that. I am doing 4 modules this term and loving 3 of them. The only that I'm not really enjoying is Paris because it's quite boring. However, I do like most of the music that we are studying for that module. It's just all I reading that I don't like.

Music Programming is enjoyable and new and exciting. Recital is fun because I'm actually playing what I want to play. Creative Project 2 is really good because it's basically a 'do anything you like' module.

It's strange I haven't updated this for a while. I think it was Jeremy who said to me yesterday at the full moon that he finds is amazing that I go out nearly every night and still manage to get work done. It's wierd but my days at the moment consist of doing work during the day then going out in the evening. It doesn't get boring because I'm enjoying both the work and the going out. I'm doing a lot less of surfing the internet for no particular reason in my room.

Most of the time it's only in the gallery but it's still fun in there and thats the main idea in what i'm trying to put across here. This is what I did this week.

Monday - Gallery
Tuesday - Pool comp in the gallery. Got k/o in the first round but won 2 out of 3 games.
Wednesday - Union. Good night. Saw Vicki and met her friend Fiona and Joy, Sue, Adam and Andy came out too which was nice.
Thursday - We were going to go to the KPA after big band but decided to go to the union for a bit. Then Lucy rang and said come to K2 so I went to KAOS which was a really good night. I forgot Dave was DJ-ing so I didn't check to see if I could see him. I enjoyed the music though.
Friday - Horwood bar for cocktails and then the full moon. Really good night.
Saturday - After seeing Barnet get thumped 4-0 by Mansfield decided to go to the gallery.
Sunday - Will be going to the karaoke in the gallery. Dunno if I will be singing or not yet. Depends how I feel.

So I wonder how everone else's weeks have gone. I'm off to do some kind of work. Maybe!

Shooting the Blast!!!

In order to not be too upset by Barnets defeat to Chester today I decided to re-master/edit Shooting the Blast. Hours of fun!!

For those of you who don't know about the wonderful song Shooting the Blast, me Nick and Dan wrote it and gave it to Tom Smith as part of his 21st present recorded to CD. The problem was that while we'd written bits of it before that day, we basically had 4 hours to finish writing it, record it, and edit/master it. Therefore the result sounds very bad and does not do this fantastic song any justice at all.

So I've added in an intro section that Dan recorded and played around with a few things and it sounds about 4 if we are going on a scale of 1 to less crap.

If anyone is really eager to hear it then just ask and i'll send you a CD through the post. I recommend you don't though. I may publish the lyrics on here sometime soon.

So Bowling for Soup and American Hi Fi were playing in Bristol on Tuesday so I went down there and saw them with Nick A. I can't be bothered to write about them so here's what Nick wrote on his Blog. The whole I'm a Fool thing was pretty cool!

So, last night was the Bowling For Soup gig. I was obvisouly splendily delighted when they announced it, but a month later they said one of the support bands would be American Hi Fi, who I'd first heard while in Florida in 2001. I bought their album, and they performed Flavor Of The Weak a couple of months later on Top Of The Pops, as it reached the dizzy heights of 38 in the UK charts. Tom and a few others liked them, and a song from their second album, The Art Of Loosing, was used in American Pie 3 and an episode of Malcolm In The Middle. Their first album also has a song called I'm A Fool, which has an outstandingly fantastic 1-bar drum solo in.Anyway, that's the background info. Yesterday I collected Tom H from the station at lunchtime ish, and we went to mine and Tom S came round too, which was nice as I hadn't seen him for ages. Either Tom, in fact. By the time we got into the Academy (just 10 mins from my house) the first of the 3 support acts, Army Of Freshmen, were on. I liked them, and not just becuase they have 2 keyboard players. I bought their CD afterwards and got it signed by someone I'm pretty sure is in the band.Next up was MC Lars. I previously assumed they were a band, but turns out to be just an MC. Called 'Lars'. With hindsight this seems obvious. He described his music as 'Post-punk Laptop Rap'. The laptop bit is right - it was just him, a mic and a laptop. We weren't too impressed -just sounded like rap but for one song a band came on who he called 'Hayston May' or something. It was pretty obvous, howver, that they were Bowling For Soup even before they took their hoods down. It turns out that if your guitarist weighs about 30 pounds subtlty isn't one of your natural strenghts. Other songs included one about the book Moby Dick which featured a sample from a Supergrass song, who he claims are an Austrian band. He may be wrong there.Next up were American Hi Fi. Tom and I feared they may not play I'm A Fool, so wrote this on big letters accross 2 A4 sheets of paper before we went. When they came on we found a good spot in the 4 row (ish) a bit to one side where we got a good view but with a relatevly low risk of causing Tom's delicate left arm to go back into plaster. They played a few songs and then while the lead singer was talking we held up the sign. Getting the 2 sheets in the right order, the right way up and facing the right direction wasn't easy, but we did it, and amazngly, suddenly he stopped talking and looked at us. "Do you want us to play that song?" he did ask. "Yes!" we did prcolaim (he was talking to us in front of about 1,600 people during the set - I decided a sarcastic response would be inappropriate). "We'll play it, but not just yet" came the reply. I was happy, and they kept their word. Nick - I caught the drum solo on my phone - will play you the video at Christmas, as I seem to remember you liking that bit.They finished with Flavor of the Weak, which for a long time has been in my list of top 5 favourite songs of all time, so I'm really pleased I've been able to see it live.BFS came out later, and were even better than usual (the last 2 times I've seen them the lead singer has been ill). They didn't go off for an oncore, but at one point the put a CD on for a minute or 2 and just drank on stage. They normally pause durng songs to talk to the audience, but in at least 2 such times the talking lasted longer than the songs. Em - I recorded a short video of them singing 'Emily' as I thought it was about time you heard it.

I liked the official 2 minuite BFS beverage break best. That was funny!

Anyway it was good to see Nick and Tom S down in Bristol. I didn't have a clue what was going on when Tom fixed Nicks computer he seemed to be doing all this random stuff that I didn't have a clue about which was amusing. Got back to Keele on Wednesday, watched the football and went out to the union after which was fun but not fun in the morning when I had a 9-10 lecture. However, I ignored my headache and slept for an hour after I got back and then I was fine for my 11-1 lecture with Diego. It was probably the funniest lecture I've ever been to. He kept saying all this really funny stuff for no reason. I swear he has changed so much since the first year.

Also yesterday I was watching the family guy episode where they faked the moon landing and it got me thinking. Is Neil Armstrong still alive? The only thing I know about him is all the moon stuff. Answers on a postcard to the usual address please.

I lost 6-1 at pool today to Dave in the union. I swear I was better at pool when I had my cast on.

I'm going down the union tonight which should be fun. Matt's the only person from A Block thats actually bothering to go but it should still be a good night. Loads of music people are coming, as is Northern Andy and Hannah.

How good is Mellotron Scratch by Porcupine Tree? On a scale of 1 to best song ever, it's about 45438598376. The wierd thing is when I first heard it, I didn't really like it that much. I guess there are some songs that grow on you like this!

I wore my champions T-Shirt especially for Michael Bell today in our recital lecture but he didn't mention it to me. Oh well! I guess he prob would of if me and Dave hadn't left early to go to Pauls trumpet class thingy!

You'll never guess what I just did!!!

I just woke up to go to a music programming lecture, went to it and then found out it was at 2 and not 11 as a first thought.

I have 9 hours a week and still don't know my timetable. That was stupid!

My hand is nearly fully recovered now and I can do everything I could before on it, which was nice. Went out to Karaoke last night with music people and was treated to a fantastic song from Lional and Stu. I can't even remember what they sang. Stu's Pulp was very good though.

I was going to sing The Drugs Don't Work again but too many people had handed in sheets so they never got round to me. Hannah H was going to sing too but they never got round to her either which is a shame coz she is good!

I got my Man United v Barnet ticket yesterday. We've sold 3000 out of 5900 which isn't bad. I'm meeting Ben Jones up there and he's coming to the game with me which will be nice. Haven't seen him for ages since he broke up with Vicki. He went to the Leigh RMI away game last season so this one will be a bit different. The Leigh attendance was 402 (four hundered and two). This one should be around the same except with an extra 67,000 on top of that.

I also should have recieved the Porcupine Tree tickets for me, Dan and Nicky D. However, I don't actually know where to go to collect non-parcel post. Will find that out today! If anyone else wants to come to the gig in London on the 7th of December or Manchester on the 8th of December then tell me. Haven't booked Manchester tickets yet. I will do if people want to come. I think Tom C does but thats it.

By the way does anyone know how to put a cool title thing at the top of a post? Coz everyone elses blogs seem to have post titles but I don't know how to do that!

Well, seeing as Dan literally peppered me with 100000000 (actual number may be less than 1) emails a day telling me to get a blog, and seeing as I can't be bothered to do anything else right now I thought I'd create a blog for no particular reason other than to write on when I'm bored.

1. I don't have a clue whats going on. I thought it would be easy to create one of these but it's not. First of all I had to choose my username. My username on the Barnet FC messageboard is Tom! so why not try that. "THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS ARE NOT ALLOWED '!'".

Oh well how about crazy tom thats a good name. "NO SPACES ALLOWED"

So I tried adding number to the end of name and trying loads of other things but nothing was allowed at all. I don't know how many blogs there are in the world but why would anyone else in the worlds username be the-craze-cornflakes???

So after failing with that bizzare name I typed in dhufgilahgikjheli just to see if the site was broken and it wasn't. So I pressed the back button and tried another username. It worked!!!

Trouble is I've forgotten it now so I hope they send me a reminder email so that I remember it again.

However after going through the various register things I had the same problems in thinking up the url. Someone already had crazy-tom1985, which I thought nobody would have so instead I thought up a decent name and chose a random word to put at the end of it. Can't get more randon than explosion. However, apart from the explosion bit I now don't know what the rest of my address is so I hope that I can find that out. Should have written them down really!

Now I'm here and I don't understand what any of the buttons do or anything. I'm just so confused. So I decided I am going to write in here and click on publish post. This seems like the best thing to do under the circumstances.

It's 2:06 on Saturday night. I'm in my room at Keele University right now doing this. Today I didn't do much apart from watch the England game which was quite boring and practice the trumpet which was quite boring. I went out every day last week except for wednesday so I was tired. Nights out have been good so far but there has been too many of them. This means I'm spending more money and doing less work than I should be. However, next week I will work more hopefully. Only plan to go out Wednesday night. However, I am going down to Bristol on tuesday to see Nick A, Tom S, Bowling for Soup and American Hi Fi. I'm looking forward to that a lot even though I seem to be the only person in Keele who likes Bowling for Soup. Actually I'm not, there is 2 of us. Last week I went to a random party with Toby and met a girl called Rach who also likes BFS. Apparantly she was at the last gig that me and Nick went to. yay! The party was good too.

Best news ever though is the fact that Barnet have an away tie with Manchester United in the carling cup which I am obviously quite happy about. I rekon we will win easily. I'd take Grazioli over Rooney any day.

In other news I had the cast on my arm taken off after just under a month with it on. It felt wierd at first but now it feels much better. For all the people that wrote on it I didn't keep it unfortunately it was just too manky!! Sorry! Sorry especially to Northern Andy. I know you spent so much time on that picture and I appreciate it a lot thanks.

I bought the new Franz Ferdinand album which is quite good, I also bought a greatest hits type collection from Dodgy. Romomber them? This is really good I recommend it to anyone! Kieran borrowed it and liked it so thats good! I also got Up The Downstair, Porcupine Tree's 2nd album. My collection is now complete yay! It's a fantastic album much like Voyage 34 but a bit more Rocky is certain points.

I hope people are getting on well at uni.

Dan and Nicky D - Yay!. Porcupine Tree! A guitar guy called Robert Fripp is supporting apparantly. He seems quite good. I was kinda hoping Anathema would do it coz they were amazing last time but hey!!!

Tom S - Can I give you a game of chess when I come down to Bristol next week? I've played 2 games since I got back to Keele. I didn't have a set so I bought one from poundland for £1. It also has draughts in it so I thought ooohhh bargain. However, the board has numbers on it for no particular reason, one of the black pawns is missing (I don't mean I lost it, it actually was not there), the draughts are actually tiddlywinks, and the pawns and bishops look exactly the same. However, I did the sencible thing and bought another set a few days later. This one was from cheapy cheapy (otherwise known as home bargains) for £3. No draughts but it's a fantastic set. Made of glass so Adam can't break the tops of the black king. Anyway I hope you're around on tuesday coz that would be nice.

Nick A - yay! Bowling for Soup and American Hi Fi. I'll ring you sometime tommorrow or Monday about travelling and things.

Everyone else - I hope you read this and leave lots of comments coz I like comments they are nice!!!!!! Tell me how you are doing I'd love to know. If anyone wants to come up to hear me play the Aroutunian Trumpet concerto on Friday December the 16th they are welcome. It's gonna be good!

Well I think I'm done. I might just so to bed now! Maybe I will and maybe I won't but what I will do now is try and find out the url for this blog so that people will be able to see it!!!!
